OUR STORY · SINCE 2023
Pachamaya began with a personal conviction: the tools to understand ourselves and feel better should be within reach of more people.
Meet our founder
THE BEGINNING OF PACHAMAYA
When Fernando began looking for retreats and wellbeing experiences, he found that many tools that had helped him were offered through experiences beyond the reach of many people. Caring for yourself seemed like a luxury.
Fernando wanted to build an alternative. In 2023, Pachamaya began bringing together hospitality, spa, food and activities in downtown Cancún. A space where rest and practice could coexist, for visitors and for people who call this city home.
Today that intention keeps growing: from the hotel to the club, from group experiences to tailored retreats, and towards digital tools we are preparing to support you wherever you are.
THE EXPERIENCE, THROUGH OUR GUESTS
Hospitality, care and wellbeing also show in how our guests remember their stay.
Pachamaya leads this selection of downtown Cancún properties.

FERNANDO CASTILLA · CO-FOUNDER

Fernando has played sport since he was three. He played semi-professional football, earned sports scholarships in high school and university, and in his first university year, in 2011, became a national champion in Mexico’s first university division. Training and physical preparation have been central to his life.
During the pandemic, a breakup and distance from his social life and team sports coincided with a period of depression and anxiety. Fernando began reading about self-knowledge and exploring meditation and yoga on digital platforms.
He began changing his relationship with partying, alcohol and food. He learned to enjoy his own company and seek a balance he could sustain in everyday life. That personal experience became the starting point for Pachamaya.
Since 2024, Fernando has facilitated practices and experiences. Today, padel, calisthenics, functional training, kitesurfing, snowboarding, football and golf remain ways for him to move, enjoy life and learn. He seeks habits that make sense for the person he is today.
EXPERIENCE, LEARNING AND JUDGEMENT
His journey includes Sam Harris’s Waking Up meditation course and two Wim Hof Method workshops with certified instructors. It also draws on reading scientific and medical specialists, and trying tools in everyday life. These learning experiences inform his personal practice.
Before Pachamaya, Fernando worked in strategy, communications, experiences and hospitality through projects involving The Coca-Cola Company, Pinche Gringo, Estudio Vivo and Royal Resorts. That background taught him to coordinate teams, design experiences and turn concepts into services that can be delivered.
It also led him to a personal decision: to dedicate his work to projects that add something positive to people’s lives.
Everyone begins from a different physical, emotional and everyday reality. We start by listening, understanding that context and suggesting tools that can be introduced gradually. Empathy and understanding others, also central to Stuart Diamond’s Getting More, guide his business philosophy.
PACHAMAYA TODAY
Over these three years, we have built a project connecting hospitality with movement, rest and personal care. The hotel, Chakramaya Spa, Soulful Restaurant and the Mindful & Active Recovery Club offer different ways into that shared intention.
We also design tailored retreats and group experiences, and help hotels, studios and businesses develop and implement their own wellbeing offering.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE EXPERIENCE
Hospitality begins with people. Christian Morales and Fernando Castilla represent the Pachamaya team at this gathering celebrating the people behind Cancún’s tourism experience.
